Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most. Ask us anything else.
How long does customs clearance usually take?
It varies by shipment. Clearance often takes 1–3 business days once all documents are complete and correct. It can take longer if the CBSA holds or examines a shipment, or if paperwork is missing. We will keep you updated along the way.
What documents are needed for customs filing?
Usually a commercial invoice, a packing list, the bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air), and your Business Number with an active import account. Regulated goods may also need permits or certificates. Customs brokerage is offered together with our associated company Parbir Customs Broker, who can confirm exactly what your shipment needs.
How does container consolidation work?
Smaller shipments, from one supplier or several, are received at our warehouse, checked and combined into fuller loads. Fewer, fuller loads usually mean a lower cost per unit than shipping each order on its own. Contact us for rates.
How is cross-docking priced?
Cross docking is quoted per pallet. The rate covers receiving your pallets and loading them onto the outbound truck as one service. See our rates on the Services page, or contact us for a quote on larger volumes.
How does supply management and supplier sourcing work?
- You tell us what you need: product, specs, quantity and target price.
- We look for suppliers in China and other countries and share the options.
- You choose a supplier, and we help with samples and order details.
- We can then arrange freight forwarding, customs and delivery to our Surrey warehouse.
Do I need to book ahead?
It helps. Contact us as early as you can, ideally before your container or freight arrives, so we can plan dock time and labour. Call or email us for urgent requests and we will do our best to fit you in.
Timelines and requirements depend on each shipment and on government agencies. These answers are general information, not a guarantee.
